Mutton Curry

My very first attempt of the famous mutton curry. I was apprehensive since I have heard so many disasters of the meat not being properly cooked. After scanning a bunch of recipes, I could muster the courage to try this one at home

Ingredients:

1. Mutton

2. Onions

3. Tomatoes

4. Green Chillies

5. Curry Leaves

6. Ginger Garlic Paste

7. Coriander / Cilantro leaves

8. Cumin Seeds

9. Garam Masala

10. Bay Leaves

11. Salt

12. Oil

13. Coconut Milk

Preparation Time : 15 mins

Cooking Time : 1 hr - 2 hrs

Method:

1. Put the mutton pieces in a pressure cooker, add a spoon of salt and a cup of water and allow to pressure cook. Cook until 3-4 whistles.

2. Once, the mutton is cooked, seperate the mutton from the water and keep it aside. Save the water, just in case you need to add water to the curry later.

3. In a wok, take 2-3 table spoons of oil, add diced onions and sliced green chillies, saute them for 5-7 mins.

4. Add ginger garlic paste to the onions and a spoon of salt. Saute for 1 min. Now add the diced tomatoes.

5. Allow to saute for 3-5 mins and add red chilli powder, garam masala and mutton masala according to taste.

6. Let the onions and tomatoes cook for another 2 mins . Turn off the heat and take the ingredients into a bowl and let it cool.

7. Grind it into a coarse paste. Add some coconut milk to aid in grinding. Say 3-4 table spoons.

8. Now, in the same wok, add a little oil, let it heat, then add, cumin seeds, cloves and curry leaves. Let the cumin seeds splutter.

9. Then add the curry paste we made. Allow it cook for a minute or two and add the mutton pieces.

10. Cook on a low flame for 15-20 mins. taste for salt and spice and add accordingly.

11. Add chopped coriander and serve with rice :)
